Environment
We are proud to be Toitū Carbon Reduce certified to the ISO 14064-1 standard. This means we measure our carbon emissions across the business, we have a real plan to bring them down and our progress is checked by an independent third party every single year.
We have set ourselves a clear target to reduce our emissions, and we are getting there through practical changes on the ground rather than grand promises.
Some of our environmental initiatives include:
Cleaner trucks
We are steadily renewing our fleet with Euro 6 Scania trucks, the cleanest current diesel standard. More than 150 are already on the road, with another 30 on the way.
Smarter tyres
Our entire fleet runs on Bridgestone Ecopia low rolling resistance tyres, which cut fuel use by 4.2%.
Electric forklifts
We are trialling electric forklifts at our Palmerston North branch as we move our materials handling away from fossil fuels.
Hydrogen on the horizon
We are working with vendors and customers to pilot hydrogen and dual fuel trucks on the routes where they stack up.
Renewable power
The electricity running our sites comes largely from generators powered by renewable sources like hydro, wind and geothermal.

We back our team with the Health Now wellbeing programme, genuine development pathways and the training to grow a career, from our Gateway and Cadet programmes through to our Graduate programme.

And we love giving back. From supporting local clubs and national charities to rolling out the trucks, the uniforms or the BBQ trailer for a good cause, we stay involved in the things that bring our communities together.
Governance
Good governance is just doing the right thing, at every level, even when no one is watching. It is set out in our Code of Conduct, The Booth’s Way, which defines how we treat each other, our customers and our partners.
We hold ourselves to high standards on ethics and human rights. We have zero tolerance for bribery, and for forced labour, modern slavery or exploitation anywhere in our business or our supply chain. Anyone at Booth’s can raise a concern safely and in confidence through our Speak Up process, backed by our firm promise that no one is ever punished for speaking up.
We also protect the information our customers and people trust us with, meeting our privacy obligations and backing them with strong cybersecurity. We work with independent auditors to keep us honest, and as an active member of the Business Leaders’ Health and Safety Forum we help raise the bar across our whole industry.
