Dave has been managing the West Coast depot for the past 14 years, bringing a wealth of hands-on industry experience to the role. Before stepping into depot management, he spent many years truck driving for various coal mines and roading contractors, specialising in bulk haulage with additional experience in transporters and heavy machinery movements.

With this strong operational background, Dave leads the Greymouth team with a focus on customer-friendly, reliable, and efficient delivery services. He values clear communication, flexible scheduling, and making sure every customer’s freight movement works to a timeframe that suits them.

Dave’s practical experience, local knowledge, and commitment to service make him a trusted partner for businesses across the Coast.

Simon Townsend
Business Development Representative - Upper South Island

Simon brings 30 years of sales experience to the transport industry, drawn in by its fast-paced nature and the fact that no two days are ever the same. He thrives on quick thinking, active listening, and the challenge of turning any conversation into an opportunity. After following Booth’s growth for some time, Simon knew he wanted to return to general freight. What stood out most was Booth’s strong team culture, commitment to upskilling staff, and its supportive leadership team. Hearing positive feedback from current employees made the decision easy.

For those new to the industry, Simon believes the key is to be yourself, stay honest, remain driven, and be prepared to put in the hours, because hard work truly pays off. He encourages newcomers to ask questions and stay curious, as there’s always something new to learn each day.

What Simon enjoys most about transport is the pace, the constant change, and the opportunity to meet new people.
